Summary

A free family-friendly Halloween and Samhain celebration with face painting, crafts, donut-on-a-string races, Irish language stories, live music, and cider and treats.

Description

Celebrate Halloween and the Irish festival of Samhain at the Irish Cultural Center! Stop by on Saturday, October 24 for a fun, free, family-friendly event in our cozy decorated pub and spacious outdoor patio.

Costumes are encouraged! From 2–5 pm, we will have face painting, fun activities and crafts including coloring, paper jack o’lanterns, pumpkin games, and Irish language words and activity sheets. Plus, there will be plenty of apple cider and treats (no tricks). Try eating donuts on a string in our race at 4:15 pm.

Our featured guest will be Fulbright Irish language teacher Caitlin Harkin, who will present stories about the origins and customs of Samhain in Ireland from 3:30–4 pm.

Enjoy Irish music throughout the afternoon and evening. Renburke’s Rovers play from 2–5 pm on the patio, bringing their lively style to a mix of Irish pub favorites and folk-rock classics to each performance. The Celtic-influenced jam band Kilashandra plays in the pub from 6–9 pm, mixing traditional and modern Irish music with twists of blues, rock and soul.

The Irish House Restaurant and Trinity Pub will be open to purchase food and drinks, including cider and festive cocktails. A limited pub menu will be served from 1–5 pm. Dinner is served from 5–9 pm. We encourage you to make a reservation if you would like to join us for dinner – please call 413-342-4358.
